Leaves · Branches · Roots : Books
Tracing the books, authors, and reading paths that shaped a lifetime of reading and formed my Leaves Branches anbd Roots Reading Tree.
This site is a work in progress—part reading journal and part life along the way. Some pages are still being built out.
Since the beginning of 2026, I have been revising older posts and creating Author Pages to build connections and cross-connections throughout the site. The goal is to create paths through 39 years of reading and 16 years of blog posts, making this a richer and more enjoyable experience for visitors. So keep checking in as the site continues to grow and evolve. And most of all, keep reading!
As examples of these new connections and updates, take a look at a recently updated Author Page and a connected post:

Welcome to Leaves Branches and Roots : Books
Among the pages0f Leaves Branches and Roots you won’t find many traditional reviews.
Most of what I write is really about how I interact with books — how I discover them, how they stay with me, and how they’ve shaped the “trees” of my reading life: the Roots from the early years, the Branches that grew through the decades, and the Leaves I’m exploring now.
It’s less about ratings and more about the stories, the memories, the rediscoveries, and the way certain books connect the past to the present.
The Reading Tree breaks down naturally into three main eras
Leaves Era
(2014 -2026)
What I’m reading now — new discoveries, current favorites, and fresh rabbit holes.
Branches Era
(2000-2013)
The middle years — when my reading widened into new authors, series, and directions.
Roots Era
(1987-1999)
The foundation years — the books and authors that first shaped my reading life.
Beyond the Books
This site is the Books Side of Leaves, Branches& Roots, but reading has always been just one part of the story.
